What a wonderful weekend away

Last weekend was our annual weekend retreat at Grasmere. The weather forecast was for rain most of the weekend, however we only had rain for a couple of hours late Saturday afternoon.

The accommodation, staff and food were just as high standard as previous years. The gardener had just finished mowing and tidying up the shrub beds when we arrived. The afternoon tea at 4.30pm with homemade cakes was an extra bonus.

There were 18 taking part this year, I think everyone enjoyed the various sessions, talking about mindfulness, sleep, breathing, nature, stress, meditation and of course Tai Chi. All sessions were optional, I was pleasantly surprised at 9 turning up for the 7am Tai Chi sessions (yes am) out on the grass with fells in the background, breathing in that fresh Lakeland air.

Thank you to all that attended, we have booked the Glenthorne for another retreat next year, most of the group have indicated that they would like to come back again.

Some of the comments made:

A wonderful mindfulness weekend, as usual. Good to meet up with old friends and to make new ones. Your organization and all the thought you put into this one, was exceptional.

Enjoyed all the visualizations, breathing exercises, plus all the group discussions.

Many thanks for the opportunity to renew my relationship with nature in this idyllic setting.

Wonderful weekend again. Even though this is my third year, it still had the “magic”

Facilities excellent, food excellent and staff wonderful. Enjoyed all the activities. Games night was so much fun.

I am now topped up with my mindfulness toolbox for another year.

We both felt the peace and calm especially the second time around. Even when the weather was not favourable, it brought out it’s beauty in a different way.

The companionship of old friends and new. Going home, batteries recharged, so relaxed, but now well armed and ready to face new challenges.
